Juan Martínez Pastor

  • Prof. Dr. Juan Martinez became Full Professor in June 2008 and leads the group UMDO at the Institute of Materials Science.
His international experience includes 2 years of postdoctoral stays at the European Laboratory of Non Linear Spectroscopy (Florence, Italy) and 1 year at the Ecole Normale Superieure (Paris, France). He is specialized in Semiconductor Physics, particularly optical properties of quantum heterostructures and nanostructures based on semiconductors. Since 2006 he opened new research lines on nanoscience and nanotechnology based on synthesis of metal and semiconductor (quantum dots) nanoparticles, paternable nanocomposites with nanoparticles, nanophotonic and nanoplasmonic structures, ….

He is author/co-author of more than 140 research publications and conference proceedings. Since 1998 he has supervised 6 PhD thesis, 11 master thesis and now supervising other 7 PhD thesis projects in the research field of quantum nanostructures and photonic/plasmonic structures. He has leaded 7 national projects, participated in 1 European Network FP6 and recently participating in 3 Strep projects FP7 (POSITIVE: biosensors based on porous silicon, NANOPV: nanomaterials and nanotechnology for photovoltaics, and NAVOLCHI: Nano Scale Disruptive Silicon-Plasmonic Platform for Chip-to-Chip Interconnection).
